Florida✅ Alabama✅ Mississippi✅ Tennessee✅ Day 11✅
We are officially in Kentucky!!!π€ πͺπ»
Grand Rivers, Kentucky to be exact!
Andy and Chris survived an eventful night during their last sleep in Tennessee. At 11 pm, 50+ mph winds came through camp followed by rain. But they managed it all. Put the bikes in the bathroom, rolled the awning up on the camper, put the outdoor rug away, along with everything else.π¨⛈ They got a few more hours of sleep before the 4 am lights were switched on.π΄π₯± Then they climbed on their saddles, and Chris rode 78 miles with a total elevation of 4,951 ft and Andy rode 71 miles with a total elevation of 4,557 ft to Canal Campground in Grand Rivers, Kentucky. π΄π»♂️π¨ππ΄π»♂️π¨
Chris wasn’t sure if he’d be able to make it all the way to the camp ground today, but because of his dedication, perseverance, and competitive spirit, (or maybe it was the Mull stubbornness) he did it!!! So proud of both of these men!!! πͺπΌππͺπΌ
Another HUGE thank you to Ken for always showing up and supporting these guys at perfect moments.ππ» Chris lost his phone during part of his ride today when his phone fell out of his pack while he was riding. Chris saw a McDonald’s so he stopped and went in to ask them if he could use their phone to call Tracy Isaacs-Mull and let her know he couldn’t find his phone so she could contact Ken. Then, without any coordination and unbeknownst to each party, Ken miraculously showed at a gas station right next door the the exact same McDonalds!!!π² Amazing!!! Ken was able to track his phone down because of location sharing!!! π΅πΌ♂️π
God really is watching over and blessing this trip; that is the only explanation!!! “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.“ Isaiah 41-10ππΌππΌ❤️
Chris texted:
Day 11: we fought a storm and 50 MPH winds about a 11 PM the night before which interrupted some of my "body recovery" but not too bad! Got off at 5 am on the bike, had to dodge a lot of debris that was laying on the road from the night before. There was actually part of a tree blocking a whole lane about 12 mile in on the ride. So I got off to a good start then about mile 20 I stop at McDonald's. There I realize I don't have my phone π³π³π³!!! I start to back track my ride about 4-1/2 miles and the cone back to Macdonald's without finding it! Now I'm freaking out a little. I borrow McDonald's phone to call Tracy to get Ken's cell phone number, as I was talking to her I see Ken next door at a gas station. I told Ken to use the "Phone Tracker" app that I set him up with to find my phone. It locates it about a mile up the road. I jump in the truck with Ken and we go directly to the location and find the phone on the side of the shoulder of the road!!! Thank you Jesus!!! So we go back to McDonald's, Andy meets up with us and we have a breakfast sandwich in the parking lot. So I put an extra 9 miles on trying to find the phone on top of a big mile day with a lot of hills! And also lost precious "cool weather time". So I continue on with doubts for the day. I ended up completing the entire route despite all the complications! I ended up putting 78 miles in with nearly 5000 feet of climbs! Yes, I was tired. This puts us to a total of 729 recorded route miles for the trip, nearly 1/2 of the 1500 schedules miles!!! And yes, we made it into Kentucky!!! I tell you, your prayers are working for us!!! Thank you!!
Pictures: one is of my usual breakfast of champions that I have every morning! The picture of the pond is actual Golden Pond from the Peter Fonda movie!! ! Another picture is our standard roadside stop!
All of these miles from the Gulf of Mexico to the shores of Lake Erie are not just for Andy and Chris' health. They are raising money for prostate cancer awareness. Use this donate button below to help Andy and Chris with their goals raising awareness. Every penny helps. Thank you.
